From the streets of Vosloorus in Gauteng, an individual destined to inspire fought his way to greatness. David Tlale is one of Africa’s top fashion designers and has showcased his work at several New York Fashion Weeks. His journey to success was not an easy one; with humble beginnings, his story is not all too different from that of other designers’. After his education, he continued his studies in a completely different field, but luckily, he realised he had a calling for fashion and started his fashion design career.Through setbacks and challenges, he had a revelation: Hard work is the only road to success and no shortcuts can be taken to reach your destiny. He strove to be at the top of his class and succeeded. His studio started off in his mother’s house with one sewing machine, and today his studio in the Maboneng Precinct is the workplace for several employees.
